Gear Guard

Proactive Gear System Care

Gear Guard (GE Guard) is a proactive treatment for gear systems designed to help reduce friction, protect loaded contact surfaces, and support stable system performance. Once dispersed in the gear oil, the PTFE particles are intended to form a low-friction protective layer on gear teeth, bearings, and other loaded surfaces, helping reduce wear and support more reliable operation over time.

System Compatibility & Blending

GE Guard is based on a high-quality mineral gear oil platform and is designed to blend with commonly used mineral gear lubricants.

Oil Compatibility Note

GE Guard is intended for selected mineral oil-based gear systems. For EAL or bio-based oil systems, compatibility should be reviewed separately based on lubricant type, viscosity, additive package, system condition, and operating environment.

Suitable System Types

GE Guard can be considered for selected mineral oil-based gear systems, including industrial gearboxes, marine gear systems, drive units, and other loaded gear applications where friction, wear, heat, or vibration are key concerns.

Assessment Before Application

Each application is reviewed individually to confirm that the treatment is suitable for the specific gear system, lubricant, and operating conditions. This helps ensure correct product selection, blending, dosage, and application guidance.

Application Example

Developed for real operating conditions across a wide range of vessel types and sealing systems.

GE Guard – Proactive Care for an Industrial Gearbox

System type: Industrial gearbox

Gear oil volume: ~400 L
Observed leakage: Within normal operating range

Scenario
The gearbox was operating under stable conditions with no significant leakage. During continuous production, the maintenance team observed elevated operating temperatures and increased vibration under load. The goal was to reduce friction, protect gear teeth, bearings, and loaded contact surfaces, and support long-term gearbox reliability as part of routine maintenance.

Action
Based on the gearbox type, oil volume, load conditions, and operating profile, a proactive treatment was recommended.

Recommended starting point: Gear Guard
Indicative quantity: ~5 L total

Application
The product was applied during a planned maintenance window, following the recommended dosage and application guidance.

Outcome
The gearbox remained stable, with added support for friction control, surface protection, and reliable operation between planned service intervals.
